Marc Marquez was expected to follow Max Verstappens 2023 F1 dominance in 2025 MotoGP season

Ducati Rider Marc Marquez was compared with the four-time Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen, while he was supported to win the 2025 MotoGP championship.
The Spanish driver celebrated his first victory of the 2025 season in Thailand with his brother Alex, who crossed the border in second place. The couple was connected by Francesco Bagnaia on the podium.
With the reigning champion Jorge Martin, Marquez has the perfect opportunity to strongly store the championship rating. While Martin is still recovering, Aprilia Racing has confirmed that he will suspend the next round in Argentina, but they cannot commit themselves to an official return at that time.
Alex Criville, who won the 500 World Championship in 1999, predicted that Marquez could have a strong 2025, similar to that of the Red Bull F1 driver Verstappen in 2023 when he won 19 Grand Prix. In an interview with Radio Marca, Criville explained:
“The favorite (for the title) is clearly Marc Marquez.
“I see Marc very happy because he sees his brother, who has made a lot of progress and is in a podium position, he is very close to him.
“And from there Bagnaia has to wake up to try to fight for this world championship because Marc is clearly superior this season.

“I would say that it reminds me a bit of the (Max) Verstappen from Formula 1, which went out and made it easy. It looks like this could happen a little. “
The Spaniard added:
“With the Marquez Brothers who won, they can take first and second place in Thailand.
“Now Marc is in the best form, with the best bike, the best team, he is very motivated.
“I think this year, if nothing happens, there is still a long way to get 21 races, it has just started, but he has it very well on the right track to amuse us after so many years without fighting for the World Cup.”
Marquez took third place at the MotoGP championship 2024. Since his MotoGP debut in 2013, the 32-year-old has secured six championship titles (2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2017 and 2019), 63 victories and 67 pole positions.
The next phase of the 2025 MotoGP season will take place next weekend from March 14th to 16th.
